Soft SPOILER warning for some of the mentioned media.
Another year, another adventures. I have watched and played a bunch of stuff and I would like to showcase the ones that became a classic for me or simply left a good impression. Unlike last year, I didn't read any manga or fully watch a TV series so you won't find any here. Also, unlike last year. I decided to include posters and pictures in addition to the links.
Movies:
By the end of January, I finished watching some old and classic films, and after that my watch time has been intermittent. This list is about the movies that I enjoyed watching this year. In no particular order:
I wrote on Letterboxd:
"The rain in Spain, stays mainly in the plains".
Liked this film however, it was too long and, had such an open ending, which was kind of abrupt.
The dress she wore to the race is quite fantastic. Overall a visually appealing film.
I wrote on Letterboxd:
Ooooh I enjoyed that! A lot of tasty military jargon. My main complaint is that Steven's "martial arts" are just so silly, they take me out of the movie.
I Would love to visit the USS Missouri one day.
On Letterboxd I wrote:
Oh my God. Screw this woman!
Mammy is so goated, her and Melly.. And I guess Rhett in the end.
Also, WHY IS THIS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MOVIES THAT I'VE EVER SEEN!? Too long though.
My first time watching movies starring Charles Bronson was this year with the infamous Deathwish movie series. However, my reception was mixed and I decided to watch other movies he starred in, and that's how I landed on Mr. Majestyk. I enjoyed the plot, the cars, guns, and guns were a treat for me.
I wrote:
A fun film! Not too long too.
Beautifully shot with a cool variety of cars, bikes, trucks, and a blimp appeared too!
Starred by a 57 Plymouth Fury and other cool police vehicles.
Perfect length for a movie (especially a sad one).
Nice cinematography, cool symbolism, and a beautiful 62' Eldorado.
I see some Max Payne in this.
One of best 'boys on contraptions' —genre pending— movies. I wrote on Letterboxd:
"Meters, Mr. Towns. Meters!"
Amazing film!
Amazing film that pulled on my heartstrings. I said on Letterboxed:
What an amazing picture! Tears were shed.
Truly, money is but a means to an end, and not the other way around.
This is a fun movie with tension and mystery. I enjoy.
Anime:
Watched a lot of anime this year, but the last season ended on a whimper in my opinion; as I haven't been able to finish the ones that I had interest in. However, there were some pretty neat shows, like:
This series continues to blow me away. Simply put, it's great.
The Akujo / Reincarnated Damsel genre keeps getting shows made for it at a slower rate than I would've liked, but I can't complain. This has a pretty good premise, however the execution and pacing is a little slow.
Peak fiction keeps on delivering. I wish I binged this, instead I had to wait for every episode. I NEED MORE! I have spoken.
Glad they're taking the more episodic approach, it's pretty good for watching it weekly.
A new guilty pleasure. I want more of this, please.
I don't usually gravitate towards the action focused shows, this one was pretty compelling and cool though.
Got ten minutes to kill? watch this niche Disney produced "Anime". I love these shows with a ton of references to stuff that I have never heard of, and then learning about them; makes me feel like a true savant or a connoisseur of the arts.. Or something like that. This show is pretty nonsensical overall. I loved it.
I wasn't sure if I should add this one; since I've already watched it dubbed years and years ago. This time I rewatched it with the original Japanese dub. It's still one of my all time favorites.
Loved this show. Thankfully it was done airing when I discovered it. Safe to say, it was binged immediately.
Oh and I already made a post about it.
I already mentioned DR.STONE but OMG THE HYPE IS INSANE!!!
